Well hello there!

This is my last post from, now rather autumnal, England.  Next week I shall be back in Naples to start another fun filled year! So here I am with my suggestions for things to do this weekend. 🙂

Ravello Festival

  • Friday 12th September – Villa Rufolo – Richard Strauss 150 – Four handed piano, with music by Wagner, Chabrier and Richard Strauss.
  • Saturday 13th September – Villa Rufolo – Sestetto Stradivari – Music by Brahms and Dvořák.
  • Sunday 14th September – Belvedere di Villa Rufolo – Neojiba Orchestra (Youth Orchestra of the State of Bahia) – Music by Tchaikovsky, Villa Lobos and Bernstein.

Tonight, Thursday 11th September, ‘Out of the Furnace‘ is showing in English at Cinema Modernissimo, as part of their regular ModOriginals series of films in original language on Thursday nights.

The incredibly popular IL VOLO will take to the stage at the Arena Flegrea on Friday 12th September for a concert, after having sold-out theatres and arenas in the USA and South America.

September at the Decumani‘ continues on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th September with live music in Piazza Bellini and Piazza San Gaetano.

Napoli Bike Festival runs from tomorrow, Friday 12th September, until Sunday 14th September at the Mostra d’Oltremare.  The theme of this year’s event is “You never forget your first bike”.  The festival is three days of non-stop events, with free admission. It ends with pedalling under the stars on Sunday.

As part of the continuing Project XXI at MADRE, Friday 12th September sees the start of a long series of events and exhibitions for the series La scrittura visuale/La parola totale.

On Saturday 13th, and every Saturday in September and October, there will be special “guided tours” for children (‘Un Tesoro d’Oltremare‘), in the form of treasure hunts for clues, around the Mostra d’Oltremare.

On Sunday 14th, and every Sunday in September and October, you can take an evening guided tour, ‘LA MOSTRA SI MOSTRA‘, around the spectacular public park of the Mostra d’Oltremare.  A fascinating journey amongst history, modern architecture, splendid specimens of exotic and mediterranean flora, fountains and water features, culminating in the impressive display of water, music, lights and colours of the Esedra Fountain.

If you are interested in contemporary dance, but based on the traditional Tarantella, then on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September there is ‘SanTarantella‘ dance show at the Teatro Stabile d’Innovazione.

Last, but by no means least, the Campagna Amica Coldiretti Markets return on Saturday 13th September in Piazza S. Di Giacomo in Posillipo and on Sunday 14th September in Viale Campi Flegrei and Piazza Immacolata.  The farmers markets are a chance to buy local products and healthy and affordable food with low environmental impact.

Of course there are more events currently on around Naples, details of which you can find on our events pages.

Have a fantastic weekend, and good luck to those of you starting back at school. 🙂
