Passionate about my adopted home, for me Naples is the perfect canvas. From its breathtaking vistas to its rich cultural heritage, I could live here a lifetime and never see it all, photograph it all, or write about it all.

    Hello and buon giourno,

I want to visit Napoli from 22. April until 24. April of this year.
Is there a possibility for a short trip (one or one night) to Stromboli with Ferry or other boat or so in this time? From which point I can see the Stromboli vulcano fire by night?

Thanks for your info in advance,

    Tino

    Hello,

This is probably not the correct forum for this type of question, but have not been able to find this information elsewhere on the web.
We will be arriving at the Napoli airport on Sunday, April 6th and catching the train directly to Pompeii (thank you for the great information here on how to use the Alibus to the train station). We need to purchase a TIM card for cellphone use and wondered if there is somewhere to do this at the airport or train station (or nearby if the shop would be open on Sunday).

Any help or resource would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for all of the great resources on this website!

Hi Kelly – I wish I could be of more help – but I don’t know of a TIM store at or near the airport or the central station or whether you’d find them open on Sunday. It used to be everything was closed, but more and more things are open on Sunday’s these days.

    Ciao, Bonnie,
A friend and I will be staying in Napoli for a week, May 12 to 19. I have booked a tiny appartment in Via degli Zingari. Could you tell me if the area is safe?
Also, I’d love to meet you for coffee while we’re there, if you are available.

Hi Rhea – I don’t know this street – but according to google maps its very near to Piazza Nazionale and the Central Station. I wouldn’t say the area is unsafe necessarily, but I would say it is not an area I would recommend a first time visitor to stay in Naples. Drop me an email to info@napoliunplugged.com and remind me and will be happy to meet up with you for caffe.

Hi Katy – prices range from about 11,00 euro to about 100,00 euro depending on the train, i.e. high speed trains are more expensive. You would need to consult http://www.trenitalia.it

    Dear Sirs,

On 18th august we will be celebrating a major party in anticipation of our cruise journey around spain and southern italy on ms deutschland in the beginning of September 2014. We will be having a buffet with Spanish and Italian specialities. May I kindly ask you to furnish the event by sending an impressive poster of your wonderful town, sights or food/markets to my postal address in Germany? I will be taking the Tirrenia ferry from Napoli to Palermo in April. Can you tell me if there is someplace near the port to store luggage for a few hours before my departure?

Hi Christine – there is left luggage at the Molo Beverello Port – it’s in the parking lot in front of the Stazione Marittima.

    Bonnie,

We are arriving on a cruise ship in April and would like to book a taxi, with an English speaking driver, in advance to go to Pompeii, stay a few hours, be picked up and then do a tour of the sights in Naples and be dropped off near the ship.

Do you have any idea of the cost and how we can book in advance.

A couple of years ago we had a delightful English speaking cab driver who took us to Herculaneum charges a very reasonable rate and it was fun.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

Hi Jerry – there are several numbers/websites on this page you can try – http://www.napoliunplugged.com/naples-taxi-services

With regards to price, follow the link from this page for the tariff card and you’ll see the rate for Pompeii (return trip with waiting period of two hours in which to visit archaeological sites) is € 90,00.

Hope you enjoy your stop in Naples!

Hi Monica – there are no “public toilets” in the centre but all of the major museums have restrooms as do most caffes and the larger bookstores.

Could I count on getting a Taxi from the Archaeological Museum to take me to Pompeii or Herculaneum for a fair price? Rome2Rio suggests $17-$20 to Ercolano and $25 -$30 to Pompeii. Does this seem right? Would someone need to call for a taxi, or are they generally waiting there? Our party hesitates to go to the train station or ride the circumvesuviana, having been pickpocketed in Madrid!
