The Metro del Mare Returns for Summer 2012!
The Metrò del Mare is back. Starting once again on July 21st, 2012, it is now easier to get to the Amalfi and Cilento Coasts thanks to the Aliscafi that connecst the main marinas of the coasts.
The Amalfi Coast route runs from Naples Beverello Port to Sorrento and the beautiful port towns along the Amalfi Coast.

The Cilento-Capri-Naples route reaches the seaside resorts of Marina di Camerota, Casal Velino, Acciaroli, Agropoli, Capri, and Napoli Beverello.
Here are the departure times for Napoli Beverello. For additional information on schedules, routes and pricing, please click here.

We are here in Sorrento and I’ve tried to find out if Metro del Mare is working. Some say it does, some it don’t. The website is italian version only and the call center is also italian. How can I know which is true? It’s hard to plan the trip without any certain information…
- Sinikka & the family
According to Metro del Mare they reopened on July 21, 2012. Their schedules are a bit confusing, but from what I see they only have one departure a day that goes from Sorrento to Positano and then Amalfi, leaving Sorrento at 0920 – I think. (http://www.metrodelmare.net//images/stories/sorrento-2012.jpg). The return trip starts at Amalfi at 1700 (http://www.metrodelmare.net//images/stories/amalfi-2012.jpg). If you are in Sorrento, your best bet is to go to the port and check.
We arrive in Naples on 16 Sept at 13:10 by train (Italiarail) and want to get to Sorrento asap.
Would we be able to get a boat to Sorrento still on the same day? I experience the same problem as Sinikka with the website being in Italian. If the answer is no, any other suggestions of transport to Sorrento?
Hi Annie – You don’t need to take the Metro del Mare to Sorrento. You can catch a regular hydrofoil from the Beverello Port. As of today’s schedule the last one leaves for Sorrento at 19:30. You can find the daily schedule via this link http://sfoglia.ilmattino.it/mattino/pagpdf/parte.pdf or check out Alilauro’s website closer to the date as their current timetable is only good through September 15th (http://www.alilauro.it). The other option would be to take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. It takes about one hour to get to Sorrento, the ticket is 4,00 euro and you can reach the Circumvesuviana Station via the underground at Naples Central Train Station. http://www.vesuviana.it/web/en/homepage
Bonnie you are a star!! Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Much appreciated!!
