The 19th century neo-Gothic exterior of Naples Cathedral is an understated beginning to a stroll through Naples 2500 years of history. Set along the aptly named Via Duomo at the eastern end of Naples Historic District, Centro Storico, don’t be surprised if you walk by it the first time without even noticing it. But step inside this 14th century French Gothic Cathedral built by the Angevins (AD 1266 – 1435) and her treasures will be revealed.

An aqueduct, an escape route, an air raid shelter, and an impound lot. Naples Bourbon Tunnel descends 30 meters into the bowels of Monte Echia and travels through 500 years of Neapolitan history. Visitors emerge in Chiaia’s Parcheggio Morelli, a state of the art parking structure built into the ancient Grotta del Chiatamone. Serving as an alternate entrance to the tunnel, the Bourbon Tunnel is Naples only handicap accessible underground tour.
