Description

When one thinks about visiting ruins in Italy they think of the great ruins of the Roman Empire, but before the Romans there were the Greeks. Tucked away on Campania's Cilento coast step back even further in time to the Greeks of Magna Grecia. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paestum is home to some of the best preserved Greek Ruins in Italy. Founded around 600 BC, three well preserved temples at Paestum, the Temple of Ceres dedicated to Athena, the Temple of Neptune, and the Temple (or Basilica) of Hera still survive.
