Hello! Happy new year to everyone! Did you all have a fantastic Christmas and New Year?  I hope you did.  I certainly did, and so I’m sorry you haven’t heard from me for a couple of weeks, but I was just having too much fun in England! 😉

I’m back this week with some great events, but next week will be bigger and better, when I properly get back to normal!


Tonight, Thursday 8th January, ‘Pride‘ is being shown in ENGLISH at the Cinema Modernissimo, as part of their weekly series of movies in original language.

If you’re not interested in ‘Pride’, then on Monday 12th January at the Cinema Modernissimo, they are showing ‘Barry Lyndon‘.  A Stanley Kubrick film from 1975, which has been restored, so as to bring it to life once more.  It will be shown in original language, with Italian subtitles.

As a third cinematic option for you this week, ‘17 Filles‘, which is one of the CLA’s (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo) series of films in original language, is being shown on Tuesday 13th January at the Cinema Academy Astra.

Show your support for Naples’ football team on Sunday 11th January, at the SSC Napoli vs Juventus match at the San Paolo Stadium.

On Wednesday 14th January, there is the monthly (and first one of this year) Naples International Happy Hour, at Barril in Chiaia.  Your chance to mingle with people from all over the world.

Over the course of this weekend/week, and ending on Thursday 15th January, is Project XXI – ‘La scrittura/La parola totale‘.  Over the course of this weekend, there are a series of films by the artists involved, at MADRE.


On Friday 9th January, as part of the Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica, there is the ‘Follia barocca, from Naples to Dresden‘ concert at the Pignatelli Cortes Museum.

Also as part of the Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica, on Sunday 11th January, also at the Pignatelli Cortes Museum, there is ‘La suave melodia

Finishing today, Thursday 8th January, is the Personal Introspection of Mario Vanacore at Castel Nuovo.

There are a number of exhibitions ending on Saturday 10th January: L’Italia intatta‘, an exhibition by Gennaro Della Monica at Castel dell’OvoThe Carlo Alfano exhibition at the Alfonso Artiaco Gallery; ‘Marcobaleno’, the exhibition of Marco Neri, also at the Alfonso Artiaco Gallery; the ‘Meta-Illusions’ exhibition at Villa di Donato; and finally, the 29th Annual Exhibit of Presepe Art at San Severo al Pendino.

Finally, finishing on Sunday 11th January is ‘Tanzio da Varallo meets Caravaggio‘ at Palazzo Zevallos.
