Here are my picks of the fun things going on in the Naples area this weekend.

Tonight, Thursday 27th November, ‘Nightcrawler‘ is being shown in ENGLISH at the Cinema Modernissimo, as part of their weekly series of movies in original language.

Also tonight, and running until 30th November, then again from 5th – 7th December, is ‘Caravaggio, cobweb in lights and shadows‘ – a historical re-enactment celebrating Caravaggio, in the Hall of Lazaretto at the ex Ospedale della Pace.

Sunday 30th November sees the climax of ‘APPACIAMOCI – 1001 peaceful solutions – graffiti contest‘.  The artists demonstrate their understanding of the term “peace”, with the chance of winning a €1000 voucher, to spend on spray cans, and the chance to be displayed at PAN.  The final will take place in Piazza Quattro Giornate.

On Sunday 30th November, GAN (Gruppo Archeologico Napoletano) are running a guided tour of the Teatro Antico di Neapolis.

If you’re looking for some sport this weekend, then on Sunday 30th November Givova Napoli basketball team are playing Scaligera Verona at PalaBarbuto.

On Friday 28th November, the Trabaci Organ Association presents the organist Fabrizio Fancello, at the Chiesa dell’Immacolata, in Vomero.

Also on Friday, Niccolò Fabi, Daniele Silvestri and Max Gazzè unite for their special Fabi-Silvestri-Gazzè Tour.  The three musical friends come together to celebrate their long, and successful, musical careers, at Palapartenope.

Another wonderful concert on Friday 28th November is ‘Niccolò Jommelli, the second concert of the  ‘Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica’, at the Chiesa di Santa Caterina di Siena.

This Saturday and Sunday at the Palapartenope, there is a special treat for the little ones (and big ones!) – ‘Disney Live! The Musical Adventure of Mickey Mouse.  The public will be drawn into the magical world of Disney to the beat of hip-hop, breathtaking acrobatics, flying carpets and magic lamps.  Spectators big and small can take part in a real party, enlivened by giant air balloons and the most well-loved characters, who will dance in the midst of the audience.

On Saturday 29th, the New Scarlatti Orchestra, as part of Autunno Musicale 2014, performs ‘Echi di Napoli/1‘, at San Lorenzo Maggiore.

This Saturday, 29th November, there is a special Christmas Bazaar at the English speaking Christ Church.  Your chance to buy lots of lovely home-made goodies, in time for Christmas.

Also on Saturday there will be the 6th stage of Napoli Green Days, 6 events dedicated to ecology, sustainable mobility and saving energy.  This Sunday sees exhibition/market stalls in Galleria Umberto I, as part of the European Week of Waste Reduction.

This Saturday and Sunday (29th and 30th November), there will be the biannual Fiera del baratto e dell’usato at the Mostra d’Oltremare.  The huge second-hand fair is your chance to pick up a bargain, with many different items on offer.

Also at the Mostra d’Oltremare this Saturday and Sunday is Mediterranea, a fair celebrating Mediterranean gastronomy, with tastings, show cooking, brunch, workshops and more.

The Naples Antiques Market is on this Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November.  Whether buying or just browsing, the market’s eclectic assortment of antiques and junk will keep you occupied for hours and will make for a great weekend jaunt.  The market takes place on the Lungomare.

The Campagna Amica Coldiretti Market will be held on Sunday 30th November (at Piazza Immacolata in Naples and Parco delle Acacie, Via E. Segrè in Casavatore).  You’ll find local products and healthy and affordable food with low environmental impact: fresh fruits and vegetables, wines, olive oil and vinegars, cheeses, honey, salumi, bread and bakery products, and plants and flowers.

Sunday 30th November, the Mercato del Contadino, a market of all the best local produce, is being held in the pedestrian area of Via Diaz.

Starting today, Thursday 27th November, is the ‘Meta-Illusions‘ exhibition.  5 artists from 5 nations come together to give an overview of contemporary photography, at Villa di Donato.

Finishing on Saturday 29th November is the ‘Twister‘ exhibition, of works in mixed media by the artist Silvano Tessarollo at the contemporary art gallery, Spazio Nea.

Finishing on Sunday 30th November is the ‘Rumori Telepatici‘ exhibition of works by Franco Vaccari, at the Fondazione Morra Greco.

Coming to an end on Sunday at PAN is ‘Getting There‘, an exhibition of works by Luciano Sozio, ‘“I’m the boss of the doll”‘, an exhibition of works by Ambra Caminito, ‘Pane al PAN‘, an exhibition of works, using bread as the medium, by Francesco Paolantoni and the photography exhibition, ‘A look at art‘.

Also ending on Sunday 30th November at Castel dell’Ovo is the Roberto Pagliaro ‘Ri-creazione‘ exhibition.

Sunday 30th November sees the last day of Autumn at the Hippodrome Park of Agnano‘.  The last in a series of meetings that combine the charm and the spectacle of horse racing with a rich program of themed events, inspired by autumn: pathways of taste with tastings and craft workshops, displays, music, exhibitions and markets.

Of course there are more events currently on around Naples, details of which you can find on our events pages.

Have a wonderful weekend, and a fantastic Thanksgiving. 🙂
