I hope everyone’s having a nice week and you’re all looking forward to the weekend.  What lovely weather we’ve been having!

Firstly, for those of you who are green fingered, and with summer coming, why not enter the Balconies in Bloom competition.  Take photos of your beautiful window boxes, terraces, shop-fronts etc. and send them to the Comune di Napoli.

Next this weekend, to coincide with the Andy Warhol: ‘Storefronts’ exhibition at PAN, Friday sees the next in the series of Naples Creative City in Pop Art events.  This Friday is about creativity and music in pop art.

For those of you looking for something musical, then take your pick, as there are many wonderful music events happening over the next few days.  (For a full list, see the events page.)  On Friday (23rd May) night at the Basilica di San Giovanni Maggiore, there is a concert ofHomenaje a Piazzolla, this is part of the ‘Music at the Basilica on Friday night!’ series.  If not, then head to the exceptional San Carlo Theatre on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May for a cello concert by Gianandrea Noseda and Enrico Dindo.  Lastly, for my musical suggestions this weekend, why not try something slightly unusual – Karol Wojtyla the True Story – the Opera Musical.  This is a musical based on the life of one of the most popular Popes in history, John Paul II.

For those of you with little ones, Sunday sees the first in a series of events at MADRE as part of Family MADRE #2.  There will be workshops and visits to encourage children, and adults, to look at the current collection in a different way, and to leave their own interpretation of it.

Finally, I also recommend two “gastronomic” events this week. The first one is the annual Wine and the City, celebrating good Italian wine, which is happening all over the city and runs until Friday (24th May) night, just look out for the special events.  The second one is Pizzafestival 2014.  This is a fantastic celebration of probably this city’s most famous food, pizza!  Again, there will be many workshops, seminars etc. around the city, so see the specific event page for more details.

Of course there are even more events currently on around Naples, details of which you can find on our events pages.

Don’t forget, it’s still May, so there is still time to enjoy all that May of the Monuments 2014 has to offer.  Have fun, and take care.
