It’s all heating up here, both in terms of weather and events!  The program for Maggio dei Monumenti – May of the Monuments 2015 is out, and it all begins this weekend!  From 23rd – 30th April there is the ‘Prologue on Leopardi‘, a whole host of events based around Giacomo Leopardi, celebrating his life and work.

Tonight, Thursday 23rd April, ‘Fast & Furious 7‘ is being shown in English, with Italian subtitles, at the Cinema Modernissimo, as part of their weekly series of movies in original language.

If you don’t fancy that, then on Tuesday 28th April, ‘El Médico Alemán‘ is being shown at the Cinema Academy Astra, as part of the CLA’s series of films in original language.

Tomorrow night, Friday 24th, there is a proper fish and chip supper at Christ Church.

On Saturday 25th there is an art-history walk, which will take place in the area of Salvator Rosa and down the hill, as part of ‘Napoli: Hills in Bloom’.

Why not take a guided tour around the Castello di Arechi in Salerno.  GAN (Gruppo Archeologico Napoletano) are conducting guided tours on Sunday 26th.

Every Sunday, enjoy ‘Sundays at the Solfatara‘, a walk around a natural oasis, at the Solfatara.

If you’re looking for some sport, then on Sunday 26th there’s SSC Napoli vs. Sampdoria at the San Paolo Stadium.


Tonight, Thursday 23rd, Angelo Branduardi comes to the Teatro Bellini with his ‘Camminando Camminando’ tour.

This weekend there are 3 concerts as part of the Pietà de’ Turchini series of concerts: Thursday 23rd, it’s the turn of Davide Rebuffa, playing dyphone and Baroque mandolin; on Friday 24th, ‘Scherza l’Alma Ensemble‘ is in concert; on Sunday 26th, there’s ‘Mandolin Attitudes‘ – all the concerts are at the Church of San Rocco a Chiaia.

On Friday 24th, as part of the ‘Seven Centuries of Sacred Organ Music in Naples‘ series of concerts, there’s a clarinet and organ concert at the Chiesa dell’Immacolata.

Every Friday night, at the Casa d’Arte, there is a date with Teatro nel Piatto, an exciting blend of cabaret, singing and theatre of the absurd, seasoned with touches of Mediterranean cuisine, orchestrated by Pasquale Della Monaco, to raise money to help restore and re-open the Villa Ebe and its gardens to the public.

From 23rd – 25th, Gigi Finizio is in concert at the Teatro delle Palme.

On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th, at Teatro Bellini, there’s ‘Around‘ – the first theatre show in which a story is told through the language of hip hop.

Until Sunday 26th, there is ‘Le statue movibili‘, a comedy in Italian, at the Teatro Bellini.

Sunday 26th and Monday 27th see another of the shows in the series of theatre for children, ‘Teatro dei Piccoli’.  This week it is ‘Arrivi e Partenze Ovvero Storie in Valigia‘, at the Teatro dei Piccoli at the Mostra d’Oltremare.


Every Sunday in the pedestrian area of Via Diaz, there is the Mercato del Contadino – a wonderful market of all the best local produce.

Every Sunday at the Hippodrome Park of Agnano, there is an antique, craft and flea market.

Every Sunday at the Fiera di Nocera Inferiore, there is the Salone Dell’Usato, a large, covered market, selling crafts, antiques, collectibles and modern antiques/art.


The ‘Frammenti di Memoria‘ exhibition at San Severo al Pendino finishes on Monday 27th.

Don’t forget, every Sunday at 10.30 there is a mass in English at the Christ Church in Naples.
