A native Neapolitan and passionate cook, Giuseppe Topo’s traditional Neapolitan recipes… and not only!
Napoli Unplugged Contributor Giuseppe Topo is a hairstylist and one of the owners of Noi ColorCutStyle, Naples only English-speaking salon. A passionate cook, when he’s not styling hair Giuseppe can be found in the kitchen cooking up one of his favorite Neapolitan dishes, which he proudly features on his regular series, Cooking with Giuseppe.
Inspired by his older brother Massimo, Giuseppe began his career as a hairstylist at an early age. Focusing first on fashion shows and pageant work, he styled several of the Miss Italia contestants. He went on to work in film and TV and eventually made his way to California to work with Massimo.
After owning/operating several highly successful salons in California, the brothers Topo decided to return to their native Italy along with their partner Rick Breco. The trio, affectionately known as the Noi Boys now own and operate two booming salons in Italy, their flagship salon in Rome and now Noi in Naples.
A tradition handed down to him from his father, Giuseppe’s passion for cooking developed some 15 years ago when he began experimenting with recipes and traditional Neapolitan dishes. He was also inspired by Massimo and many of Giuseppe’s recipes are those he learned cooking with his brother. Today, the two still argue over who is the best cook and whose recipe it is.
