La Fuga in Maschera
February 10, 2013 - February 17, 2013
Via San Carlo 98/f, Naples

San Carlo Theatre of Naples

presents

La Fuga in Maschera

by Gaspare Spontini,

an Italian composer and conductor,

extremely celebrated in his time (end of XVIII Century),

though largely forgotten after his death.

La fuga in maschera

was considered lost until 2008,

when the English antiquarian Lisa Cox

has auctioned the autographed manuscript

promptly bought by the City of Maiolati Spontini,

The comedy in two acts by Spontini,

with libretto by Salvatore Palomba,

was performed for the first and only time

at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples

during the Carnival of 1800.

And now it will be perfomed in

Naples again.
