Piedigrotta is a celebration of love

 

It was born in 1487 as a religious

celebration of

“Santa Maria della Grotta”.

During the XVIII Century

Carlo III decided to celebrate it

together with the Carnival

introducing a carnival float parade.

Now it will be celebrated in order

to combine tourism, culture,

history and religion always keeping

Tradition alive.

 

Here all the events:

 

Friday  7th

  • 10.00 pm : turning all the lights on in Villa Comunale and procession

Saturday 8th

  • from 11.00 am to 2.00pm: paper dresses handcraft laboratory for children

Sunday 9th

  • at 7.00 pm : children will march with their traditional paper costumes trough Villa Comunale and via Caracciolo with a music band

Monday 10th

  • at 9.00 pm: Serenade to the Virgin (30th Edition with Benedetto Casillo and Angela Luce)

Tuesday 11th

  • Religious events

Thursday 13th and Friday 14th

  • at 8.30pm : Free Tarantella lessons and popular music in Villa Comunale

Sunday 16th

  •  at 10.00 pm: Fireworks show from the sea

Tuesday 18th

  • at 8.30pm: music show at Teatro San Carlo “La Funzione del Centenario”
