Last week we celebrated European Mobility Week, an annual event promoting innovations in sustainable mobility for the betterment of Europe’s collective future.

Next weekend we observe European Heritage Days, an annual event celebrating Europe’s collective past.

With the broader aim of bringing people of different cultures and different languages together around a shared heritage, localities open their doors to sites and monuments normally closed to the public and plan special events, guided visits, exhibits, concerts and lectures featuring local crafts, traditions, architecture, archaeology, and works of art.

Observed at different times of the month of September by all 50 signatory states of the European Cultural Convention, European Heritage Days in Italy will be held the last weekend of September, September 29th and 30th.

As in years past, local, regional and national events are organised around a specific theme that varies from year to year and country to country. This year’s theme for Italy is Italy – Treasure of Europe

In Naples, treasures old and new will be on display. From the rediscovery of an applied arts collection of a Neapolitan nobleman to a contemporary installation art exhibit, here’s what’s on tap in Naples. For all of the European Heritage Days events in Campania, check the listings here (in Italian).
